Accident at No. 5 Pit 14 December 1908 On Monday, 14 December 1908, Isaac OGLANBY, a fitter received head injuries which lead to his death. The West Cumberland Times – Saturday December 19 1908 ACCIDENT AT BRAYTON COLLIERY FATAL TERMINATION On Monday evening a young fitter named Isaac Oglandby [sic] was engaged in the new sinking at No. 5 pit, Brayton Domain Colliery, when something fell and struck him on the head. Dr Briggs was at once summoned. On Tuesday Oglanby was conveyed to the Cumberland Infirmary, but died on Thursday morning. Deceased, who was 25 years of age, leaves a widow and two children.
